Sharp, Nokia Seek Collaborations with Chinese Channel Players

Japan's Sharp, which initiated aggressive mobile phone sales operations in China earlier this year, has reached a deal with Chinese electronics retailer Suning for Sharp mobile phones to be available in Suning chain stores nationwide starting from September 20, according to China Securities Journal. Initially Suning will launch special promotions of Sharp mobile phones at its flagship stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Furthermore, it is understood that Sharp will also enter into similar collaboration with another Chinese electronics chain Gome, also according to China Securities Journal.

Meanwhile, Nokia has reached an exclusive selling agreement with Dazhong Electric Appliance, one of the major electronics chains in China, according to a China Knowledge report. As per the agreement, Dazhong will be the first seller of Nokia's new mobile phones launched in September, which will only be available through other channels after at least two or three weeks. Details regarding the types of mobile phone, nevertheless, remain undisclosed.
